Plastering/Skimming
Skimming over Artex on walls or ceilings leaving a flat, smooth finish suitable to paint. Skimming over tired looking walls and ceilings to give a new surface suitable to paint. Or plastering to render or to plasterboard walls and ceilings.
All work is two coated as standard and glue applied where necessary. Fibreglass mesh is applied to any cracks or joints in the plasterboard prior to plastering. If required areas would be knocked back to brick or block work and replaced in the correct manner.

Plasterboard Work
Plasterboard can be either tacked to joists or frame work using plasterboard screws or it can be stuck to brickwork or blockwork using a plasterboard adhesive. The plasterboard can then be skimmed (plastered) to leave a perfect finish suitable for painting.

External Rendering
Two coat exterior render:
Coat one, (or the scratch coat). The scratch coat will contain fibreglass mesh which assists with cracking avoidance. Fibreglass fibres can also be added to add additional strength, binding the render together. Outside render can protect your house from the elements.
Coat Two, (or the top coat). This finishing coat will be floated and sponge finished leaving a fine sand texture finish. This will be able to be painted with an exterior paint when dry.
There are many different options available for rendering externally, but if you are not using water repellent on the top coat, then a hydrated lime added to the sand and cement gives a great finish.
Alternatively, you can use just lime meaning no aggregates or cement required. This draws carbon from the atmosphere to cure so needs time and good weather. The benefits of using just lime is that it is breathable, meaning that it is suitable for older properties, although it can be used on all modern buildings.
The scratch coat will contain a 10mm holed fibreglass mesh and fibreglass fibres are added to every single mixture, giving them extra strength. Lime is very flexible, and very rarely cracks as opposed to the sand and cement rendering.
The top coat will also include fibreglass fibres in every mixture as standard. The difference between sand and cement is that the lime is trowel finished, rather than a float and sponge finish. This will be smoother than the sand and cement, as there are no aggregates in the lime. When cured the lime rendering can also be painted, but with a breathable external paint, or a lime-based paint.
All external bead work will be either plastic or stainless steel, I will never use galvanised for any external work. The choice of beads is your preference.

Internal Rendering
Internal rendering over blocks or brickwork, this can be floated up and lightly keyed so a skim coat (finishing coat) can be applied leaving it suitable for painting.
Alternatively, a colour dye can be added for feature areas, such as fireplaces. Similar to outside render this will then be floated and sponge finished, leaving a light sandy texture.
